Writing children’s books

Over the past four or five years, I have been creating children’s stories! The fun learning part was drawing the illustrations and I guess I am still learning new ways to become more efficient at it.

Though I have nothing available online through Amazon or Ingram Spark yet, I have however, recently had 6 books printed by a local printer in Australia. The first one…. “The Travelling Fart” is now available for sale in Australia and can be ordered directly by emailing me at www.storybooksforkids.com

This book is suitable for 3 to 8 year olds and would be an ideal Christmas present for any child! Though, you don’t have to wait until Christmas to buy this fantastic book! It is a very humourous and is in rhyme!

Along with creating books to sell comes the decision to create a facebook page (www.facebook.com/barbskidsbooks) and a youtube channel (Story books for Kids) (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDWuehpOlAe-5jTpTBsBmvA/videos) specifically to showcase my children’s books.

The marketing too is very interesting to say the least and I have joined several facebook groups to learn further information about this.

What I did learn last week was how to do a promo video for my “Travelling Fart” book, which has been currently uploaded to my facebook page. I was so rapt that I created a piece of backing music and recorded the whole story. Needless to say I may look at this being made available online as well!

Over the next few weeks I will be fine tuning the artwork of “The Travelling Fart” story in hope of uploading the files as an ebook on Kindle/Amazon.

My past background has included entertaining, singing, teaching music and dancing, but I also love gardening, cooking and writing music. I have two sons in their thirties and I guess my main hope is to be able to say I have written and published some children’s books before I kick the bucket. Yep, I guess this is on my bucklet list! But whether I sell heaps or not is not as important as having created them and getting them online. For those who do buy them, if I can make one reader laugh then my job is done!

Until next time,

Barbara
