Finger Numbers
- Our fingers are numbered from 1 to 5.
- Both thumbs (left and right hand) are number “ones” which means your little fingers are number “5”.
- Finger numbers are used in music to help the player use the recommended finger number on a particular piano note.
- Younger children may tend to confuse their finger numbers; they sometimes think that because the right hand thumb is number “1”, that the left hand little finger must be number “1” as well.
Hint:
Sometimes it may be helpful to place the palms and fingers together (as if in prayer), to see how the thumbs match (being number “1”), the index finger being number “2” etc.
