Quaver
- A quaver has just half a beat and has its own little tail.
- Note that the tail always goes to the right of the stem regardless of whether the stem goes up or down.
- For ease, we will combine 2 quavers by joing the tails into a thick line.
- Because 2 quavers take up the same “duration” as one crotchet, we can conclude that quavers MUST be double the speed of crotchets.
- This concept is often difficult for some younger children to grasp when striving for accurate timing. Over time though, any timing difficulties are usually overcome.
