Types of Notes
- There are many types of notes used in music and each type of note tells us the duration or number of counts it is held before the next note is played.
- Most notes have stems, some are coloured in and a few have a dot next to them. Some even have tails!
- The image below shows some of the more common notes used ranging from the shortest to longest duration.
- The notes can be turned upside down with the stem going downwards on the left hand side.
- Note that the wee tail on the note goes to the right side of the stem whether the stem goes up or down.
