- The Grand Staff connects the treble and bass clefs by a bracket or brace.
- Notes on both the treble and bass clefs means that they may be played simultaneously (if the notes are vertically in line) and/or separately between right and left hands.
- The treble and bass staff usually have a reasonable “gap” between so lyrics, terms, signs and other notes can be placed without “crashing” into each other.
